Caramel Apple-Almond Crepes


A great dish for dessert or breakfast, these filled crepes are quick and easy to make, full of wonderful flavor, and make any occasion special.


Warm Fall Fruit Punch

I think it is really fun to offer some unique beverages during holiday dinners, and this warm and spicy fruit juice and cider mix has become a new favorite. My stove is typically too full to make this in a pan on the big day, so the recipe below is tailored for a slow cooker or crockpot, but you can just as easily simmer the punch on the stove.

2 oranges
12 whole cloves
6 cups apple cider
2 cups pineapple juice
2 cups peach juice or nectar
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup honey or brown sugar
1 cinnamon stick
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt

Stud the oranges with the cloves and set aside. Combine the juices and honey or brown sugar in a large slow cooker on high heat and mix well until the honey or sugar dissolves. Add the oranges, the cinnamon stick, the nutmeg, and salt and mix well. Cover and cook on high for 30 minutes, then reduce the heat to low. The punch can simmer for up to four hours on low if needed.

Makes 12 servings.
