Flourless Chocolate Cake with Whipped Cream and Raspberries

Flourless Chocolate Cake with Whipped Cream and Raspberries

Diet, Schmiet. Some foods are worth breaking New Year's Resolutions - and this cake definitely fits the bill. Delicious, decadent, and drop-dead gorgeous, this cake is one of my favorite go-to recipes whenever I need the perfect finale for a celebratory meal.

Buttered Broccoli and Almonds

An important part of all of my holiday menus is a selection of very simple and easy vegetable side dishes. They all cook quickly, require just a few ingredients, very little active preparation time, and go with most typical entrees. They all taste great too and this crunchy broccoli dish is no exception.

2 pounds broccoli florets
1/2 cup butter
6 tablespoons sliced almonds
Salt
Freshly ground white pepper

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the broccoli and boil for 4-5 minutes, or until bright green but still crisp to the bite. While the broccoli is cooking, melt the butter in a large heavy skillet over medium heat. Add the almonds and cook until lightly browned. Drain the broccoli well and toss with the butter almond mixture. Season to taste with salt and pepper and serve hot.

Makes 6 servings.
