Party Nuts

Recipe Submitted by Mrs. G. Day.

1/2 cup light corn syrup
6 tablespoons margarine
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons curry powder
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
1 can cocktail peanuts
1 cup whole blanched almonds
1 cup shelled pistachios
1 cup pumpkin seeds
1 bag pretzel nuggets

Heat oven to 300 degrees. Grease a large roasting pan well. Mix corn syrup, butter, brown sugar, curry powder, salt and red pepper in medium saucepan. Melt together over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves. Keep warm. Toss together the nuts and pretzels in the roasting pan. Pour corn syrup mixture over nut mixture and toss again to coat. Bake 40 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until mixture is deep golden brown. Do not burn. Spread foil on a work surface. Scrape the nuts onto the foil. Cool. Break apart. Store in an airtight container.
