Chocolate Spice Coffee Cake

3 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter
4 teaspoons baking cocoa
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup chopped nuts
2 cups buttermilk
In a large bowl, combine the flour and sugar; cut in the butter until crumbly. Set aside 1-1/4 cups for topping. To the remaining mixture, add cocoa, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, nutmeg, salt and cloves; mix well. Stir in nuts. Make a well in the center; pour in buttermilk and stir just until moistened. Transfer to a greased 13-in x 9-in x 2-in baking pan. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
