Flourless Chocolate Cake with Whipped Cream and Raspberries


Diet, Schmiet. Some foods are worth breaking New Year's Resolutions - and this cake definitely fits the bill. Delicious, decadent, and drop-dead gorgeous, this cake is one of my favorite go-to recipes whenever I need the perfect finale for a celebratory meal.





Vernalisa's Strawberry Pie

Recipe Submitted by Vernalisa.

"Use the biggest and sweetest you can find for this pie."

1 cup water
3/4 cup white sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon red food coloring
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup margarine
3 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups fresh strawberries, hulled

Mix together the water, white sugar, salt, cornstarch and food coloring and cook in a saucepan for about 5 minutes or until thickened. Set aside to cool. Make the crust by combining flour, margarine, sugar and vanilla - press this into a 9 inch pie pan. Prick all over and bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) until lightly browned. When crust is cool, place berries in the shell and pour the thickened mixture over the top. Refrigerate. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or whipped dessert topping.
