Angel Biscuits

Recipe Submitted by Aunt Runner.

2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1/4 cup warm water
1 package dry yeast
1 cup buttermilk

Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water and set aside. Mix dry ingredients in the order given, cutting in the shortening as you normally do for biscuits or pie dough. Stir in buttermilk and the water with the yeast. Blend thoroughly. Make into biscuits or refrigerate in large covered bowl. When you're ready to work dough, turn it out on floured board and knead lightly. Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter. Placed biscuits in greased pan. Let the biscuits rise slightly and pop into a 400 degree oven until lightly browned.
