Flourless Chocolate Cake with Whipped Cream and Raspberries

Flourless Chocolate Cake with Whipped Cream and Raspberries

Diet, Schmiet. Some foods are worth breaking New Year's Resolutions - and this cake definitely fits the bill. Delicious, decadent, and drop-dead gorgeous, this cake is one of my favorite go-to recipes whenever I need the perfect finale for a celebratory meal.

Wen's Favorite Sangria

You either are a big fan of sangria, or you hate it. It is the perfect complement to spicy foods and makes a lovely punch bowl. This is my favorite because of the fruity flavors and mild flavor. Make extra because this drink goes fast! We especially like it made with Shiraz, with 1998 Tapestry Shiraz Bin 338, McLaren Vale, Australia being one of our absolute favorites.

1/2 cup water
1 cinnamon stick
1/2 cup sugar
1 lime
1 lemon
1 orange
20 halved green grapes
20 halved red grapes
1 cup pitted cherries
1 bottle fruity red wine
2 cups ice or ice ring with fruit in it

Bring the water, cinnamon, and sugar to a boil and cook for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, thinly slice the lime, lemon, and orange with the peel intact. Add the fruit to the sugar mixture and set aside to cool. Chill overnight. Place the ice in a large pitcher or punch bowl. Pour the fruit mixture over the top and add the wine.

Makes 8 servings.
