Labor Free Labor Day Menu
by Wen Zientek-Sico

Celebrate Labor Day this year with your family - not with a hot stove or grill with our festive and easy Labor Day Menu.

Labor Day this year will be a very difficult day for many families. With the specter of September 11 waiting later in the week, everyone should take this opportunity to gather close with those they love. So take a break from the kitchen on Labor Day and serve our menu of make-ahead dishes that are the epitome of comfort food and take the time to enjoy your family, friends, and the end of summer.

48 hours In Advance

Start the preparation of the Crockpot Pulled Pork by rubbing the spice mixture into the meat. Refrigerate.
Mix the Super Quick Barbecue Sauce and refrigerate.

24 Hours In Advance

Place the Crockpot Pulled Pork in the crockpot.
Make the Perfect Potato Salad.

14 Hours In Advance

Remove the Crockpot Pulled Pork from the crockpot and shred. Refrigerate.

Any Time The Day Before

Wash and tear the greens for the Patriotic Tossed Salad. Slice the strawberries and store in a container with the blueberries. Whisk together the salad dressing and store it in a jar or bowl. Do not mix the greens and dressing together or add the almonds or cheese.
Make the Classic Deviled Eggs and refrigerate.
Make the Classic Cole Slaw and refrigerate.
Make the Perfect Peach Cobbler and keep at room temperature. (You might want to make two batches to keep out nibblers because I never can...)

45 minutes In Advance

Preheat the oven and reheat the Crockpot Pulled Pork.
Remove the Super Quick Barbecue Sauce from the refrigerator and let come to room temperature.

Right Before Serving

Toss the Patriotic Tossed Salad. Slip the Perfect Peach Cobbler into the warm oven (but turn the oven off) to reheat for dessert if desired.
Make the Peachy Keen Punch*
Pour the Citrus Slush.

*Not a Make Ahead Recipe! (But I couldn't resist.)
