French Bread Rounds
These rounds are great for dipping or serving a variety of appetizers.
They are quite tasty on their own and are one of my favorite ways to
serve cheese, meats, and spreads. It is also a savory way to use
leftover or reduced price french baguettes. Herbes de provence,
fines herbes, or Italian herbs make nice choices for the herb blends,
or you can use a mixture of your favorite dried herbs. For a spookier appearance, divide the olive oil into four seperate dishes. Leave one untinted, but tint each of the other bowls with orange, black, and green food coloring. Proceed as directed below for a beautiful platter of bread rounds.
2 loaves day old french baguettes
1/2 cup olive oil
1 1/2 tablespoons mixed herbs
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Slice the baguettes 1/4 inch thick.
Place the baguettes on a cookie sheet and brush with oil. Sprinkle
the herbs on top and bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool and store in an airtight container.
