Here is a great menu perfect for a casual dinner with friends. You can make the whole dinner in about an hour before serving as long as you whip together the dessert the morning or day before your party. All of the recipes use comfortable, familiar ingredients and preparation methods that are just "jazzed" up a bit for special friends.
Strawberry Spritzer Cheese in Round Rye Bread Smothered Chicken Marinated Cucumber Salad Crumb Green Beans Party Potatoes Strawberry Ice Box Cake Recipe Notes: Prepare the Strawberry Ice Box Cake early in the day, or even the day before. The dip for the Cheese in Round Rye Bread can also be made up to 24 hours in advance, just don't place the dip in the bread until ready to serve. The bread can be torn into small pieces a few hours in advance and stored in an airtight container.
One hour before dinner, prepare the Party Potatoes and Smothered Chicken which can bake in the oven at the same time.
30 minutes before serving, prepare the Marinated Cucumber Salad and the Strawberry Spritzer.
15 minutes before dinner prepare the Crumb Green Beans.
